Daily Life
Your daily schedule will be worked out together with the Project coordinator upon arrival in Arusha Tanzania and you may work part- or full time, at least 10 hours a week (Monday-Friday)
Arusha is a city in East Africa’s Tanzania, located at the base of volcanic Mt. Meru. It’s a gateway to safari destinations and to Africa’s highest peak, 5,895m Mt. Kilimanjaro, lying some 100 kilometers northeast. To the west lies Serengeti National Park, home to wildlife including lions, rhinoceros, giraffes and leopards. Annual migrations feature huge herds of wildebeests crossing its plains.
Travel & Accommodation to Volunteer or Support a family in Arusha Tanzania
Upon arrival you will be met at the airport by a project representative and taken to your hostel.
Notes
- As a volunteer in Arusha you are advised to land at Kilimanjaro Airport as it is nearby Arusha.
- Breakfast is provided and there is a fully equipped kitchen that volunteers can use to prepare other meals.
- All services, such as supermarkets, drugstores, banks (ATMs), bars & restaurants, delis, fruit store, bus stops, and others are literally found in Arusha. The bus stop to Dar Kenya is accessible and it takes only 6-7hours drive to Nairobi in Kenya.
Eligibility/Who can Join
- Minimum age 18.
- No previous skills are necessary; however, you will need to speak English at a native or near-native level.
- Minimum high school education.
- Minimum 2-week commitment
- Necessary vaccinations. (Yellow fever is highly recommended if you are coming from areas with high yellow fever risk.)
- Necessary flights & visas, and for more visit Tanzania Immigration Service.
- Full travel & medical insurance.

Materuni Waterfalls
Maji chemka is “A HOT SPRING”. However this is the natural hot spring where you can swim in and enjoy the natural trees around the spring while imagining some of other experiences and develop, new ideas.

Visit Lake Eyasi
This is home to the Hadzabe and Datoga Black smiths. The Hadza, or Hadzabe are an indigenous ethnic group in north-central Tanzania, living around Lake Eyasi in the central Rift Valley and in the neighboring Serengeti Plateau.

Mount Kilimanjaro for a day Hike
Materuni Waterfall is the highest and most impressive waterfall at the foothill of Mt. Kilimanjaro with a height of about 150m.

Chemka Hotsprings

Maasai Boma
Joagro Safaris Tanzania organizes trips visits to this Maasai Boma where you can also see the enclosed piece of land with a separate area for cattle as ranch within a Boma.
